Bucas Smartex Turnout Rug

The Bucas Smartex Turnout Rug is a premium outdoor blanket engineered specifically for horses who need dependable protection during turnout in variable weather conditions. Built with the renowned Bucas commitment to quality, this rug features a durable ripstop outer shell that resists tearing even when horses are rolling, playing, or brushing against fences and trees. The waterproof and breathable fabric technology ensures that rain and moisture stay out while allowing excess heat and sweat to escape, keeping the horse dry and comfortable regardless of whether they're standing in a downpour or working up a light sweat during turnout. The thoughtful construction includes reinforced stress points at the shoulders and hindquarters, areas that typically experience the most wear and movement, extending the rug's usable lifespan considerably.

Fit and comfort are central to the Smartex design, with contoured shoulder gussets that allow for a full range of motion so horses can graze, move, and interact naturally without the rug pulling or causing rubbing at the withers. The rug typically includes an adjustable surcingle or cross-surcingle system paired with leg straps, allowing owners to achieve a secure, custom fit that stays in place through active movement without shifting or twisting around the barrel. A shaped neck or optional neck cover attachment point gives additional coverage options depending on the season and the individual horse's needs, while the tail flap provides extra protection against rain runoff and keeps the hindquarters dry during prolonged exposure to the elements.

Available in a range of fill weights, the Smartex Turnout Rug accommodates different climate needs, from lightweight options suited to milder, wetter conditions to heavier insulated versions designed for cold winter turnout. The rug's reflective detailing enhances visibility during low-light conditions, an added safety feature for horses turned out in paddocks near roadways or during early morning and evening hours. Easy-care fabric treatment helps repel mud and dirt, simplifying maintenance and reducing the frequency of washing required to keep the rug looking and performing at its best. For horse owners seeking a turnout solution that balances rugged durability with thoughtful comfort features, the Bucas Smartex Turnout Rug delivers a reliable option trusted across the equestrian community.
